Our social responsibility policy
This policy follows the three licensing objectives: keeping gambling free of crime, making it fair and open, and protecting children and vulnerable people.
Glasgow Islay Gaelic Choir Lottery is registered with the local council as a small society lottery.
Keeping gambling free of crime
Entrants must be 18 or over. Age and residency checks: Proof of age and residence may be requested at registration or before payment of a prize; valid photo ID and address evidence are required when requested. Membership limits: One membership per person. Maximum entries: 10 entries per person per draw. Payment methods: Bank transfer or cheque; credit cards are not accepted.
Fair and open gambling
Read the rules for prizes and odds before entering. Advertising must follow the CAP and BCAP codes. Published draw results belong on the winners page.
Complaints: Email or write with your membership number and supporting details; acknowledgement is due within three working days and a final written response within eight weeks.
Protecting children and vulnerable people
No one under 18 may play. Spending controls and play history: A maximum of ten £1 entries per draw applies; a payment and winnings history is available on request. Staff procedures: People administering the lottery receive safeguarding guidance at induction and annually, and review the policy every six months.
Take a break or self-exclude
Contact info@glasgowislaygaelicchoir.org with your name, address and membership number to request a break or exclusion. Request exclusion by email or post for six months to five years; rejoining requires a fresh request after the exclusion ends and a 24-hour cooling-off period.
Online lottery entry remains closed. If gambling is affecting you, the independent services below can help now.
Keep play in perspective
- Set a budget before you play and keep essential spending separate.
- Never borrow money to gamble or try to win back losses.
- Take regular breaks and keep other interests in your life.
- You can support the choir without buying lottery entries.
